The word Punjab is made up of two Shabad mass (five) + Ab (water), meaning the earth of five rivers. Its name is because they have five rivers on earth and these five rivers of Punjab are the Satluj, Beas, Ravi, Chenab and Jhelum. Historically Punjab is related to the names of the states of Punjab, Pakistan (India), Haryana, Himachal Pradesh and Delhi. The rivers flowing through this region are an important geographical feature of this land, thus the name is popular with the name of ‘Land of Five Rivers’ or ‘Punjab’.
The Sutlej (or the Sutlej) is the eastern most river of the Indus River. Its Sanskrit name is Shatadru. Source of origin is Tibet’s monster lake. Some geologists consider the source to be Lake Mawerovarov. Two lakes are huge lakes in Manorov and Rakshattal Tibet region and are close to each other. Lake Mansarovar is full of Lake Savana. This river enters India in Himachal Pradesh and then enters Ropar district of Punjab.River Beas merges with it in Harike of Tarn Taran district. It joins the Chenab river near Pakistan’s high peak, which makes the river Prajnaana. The river Pawanata meets the Indus River, 100 kilometers from the city of Bahawalpur, Pakistan. The name Beas is called Arjikya in Vedas and in ancient times Namah is an ancient name. Beas river is derived from the Beas Kund (also called Vaas Kund) in the Himalayas of Himachal Pradesh. He is in Punjab in Hoshiarpur district. The total length of the river is about 470 km and ends with the Sutlej river in Harike in Tarn Taran district of Punjab. Pang Dam and Pandoh Dam are two major dams on this river. Pong Dam, also known as Maharaja Pratap Sagar, is located in Kangra district of Himachal Pradesh. Pondh Dam is located in Mandi district of Himachal Pradesh and it is situated in Satluj Rao of Beas.
Ravi’s Vedic name is Purushani and his name is Irawati in Sanskrit. Ravi river rises in Kangra district of Himachal Pradesh and goes to Punjab in Pathankot district. The river flows along the international border of India and Pakistan separates Pakistan from G
urdaspur to Amritsar and Amritsar districts of Amritsar.It flows for a total length of approximately 720 km and finally ends with the Chanab River near Ahmeddaur, Pakistan, Pakistan. It is known in Assamese name as ‘Asani’ and its Sanskrit name is Chandrabhaga. The Chenab river starts from the upper Himalayas in Lahaul and Spiti district of Himachal Pradesh. It then runs through the Jammu region in the state of Jammu and Kashmir and entered the state of Pakistan.The river does not flow through India’s modern Punjab state. The total length of this river is 960 km. Jhelum joins it in the river Trimu and Ravi meets it near Ahmadpurisil. It then meets Satnam and becomes a wind nad. Then the river Pannad merges with the Indus, which flows into the Arabian Sea.
The Vedic and Sanskrit name of Jail is Vitaasa. Jhelum river is produced by Varnag Express in Jammu and Kashmir state. This place is located in Vernanag, which is located 80 km from Srinagar. It is the westernmost of the five rivers of the Punjab and it is a tributary of the Chenab River.The river flows in Jammu and Kashmir state of India and then enters Punjab state in Punjab.
