Is Modern Technology Increasing the gap between the rich and poor people?

On the one hand, there are several reasons why there is inequality in wealth due to technology. The most common reason perhaps is automation. Every type of work these days is done by machines instead of humans, which raise unemployment in an economy. Factories and industries, for instance, has robotic machines, which do all the work independently without any help of men. Thus, humans  particularly, labours have hardly a place to work, from where they can earn ,as it has been taken over by artificial intelligence, so apparently, poor are becoming  more poor.
