Why was Al-Zahrawi regarded as a great surgeon?

Al-Zahrawi, known as Albucasis in the west, was one of the most renowned surgeons who devoted his entire life to the advancement of surgery. he is best known for his early and original breakthroughs in surgery, as well as for his famous medical encyclopedia called ‘At-Tasrif’, which is composed of 30 volumes. It contains details of the operations performed by him. He also introduced a collection of over 200 surgical instruments. He was one of the first medical authors to provide illustrations of instruments used in surgery. After a long medical career, Al- Zahrawi died in A.D. 1013.
